Jay Esser of Redfield represents District 6 on the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council. He farms with his daughter Alexis, cousin Dan, and Dan’s son Nick on the farmstead that his grandfather bought in 1932. Esser says, “I feel extremely fortunate to be involved with my family in our farming partnership. Our legacy is our motivation.”
Esser graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with emphasis in economics. He served on the Redfield School Board for 12 years. He also has served on the Redfield Energy Board of Managers since 2012 and is currently Secretary and Technology Committee Chair. In 2020 he was selected as a non-voting Director on Agtegra Cooperative Board of Directors. In 2022 he was elected to the Board of Directors for Agtegra and he is currently the Finance Committee Chair.
Esser shares, “I believe it is our responsibility as leaders to tell our stories. Being involved with ethanol, we need to keep advantages of being a renewable fuel at the forefront.”
In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing. He enjoys traveling as well as spending time on Lake Oahe.
