Corn Comments featuring Ellen Zimmerman of the U.S. Grains Council
Welcome to Corn Comments! I'm Ellen Zimmerman from the U.S. Grain Council. We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.
At the U.S. Grains Council, our mission is all about opening doors for U.S. barley, corn, sorghum, and value-added products like DDGS and ethanol. These exports strengthen demand and help keep markets moving—especially in South Dakota.
Why does it matter? Because strong export demand helps keep prices up and grain moving. The South Dakota Corn Utilization Council invests in expanding markets, building demand, and creating new uses for corn—to boost profitability for South Dakota producers.
Together, we’re making sure South Dakota corn has a strong voice and a strong future—at home and abroad.
